Americana: The Red Lawn Chairs Society
comments (11)
Is there really a red lawn chair society? Beautiful picture. Love the shadow of branches on the house. It gives an older look to bright white house with bright red chair...Nice contrast.
VZ: Of course, there is, Richa. They get together at midnight at the stone cube building with no windows. They put their chairs in a circle and perform their ritual, chanting the Jocelyn Pook's "Masked Ball" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj7PKQOzCVo&feature=related
I bought a book on American house styles when I was over in DC. I'll have to see if I can identify this one. Love the colours and contrast.
VZ: Good luck locating the style, Ian. At the Ansley Park neighbourhood, where I snapped this, all houses are different. Someone smart enough could write a book on house styles of this area.
You could imagine there is a Red lawn chairs society in America! You have really revved up the colour and contrast on this one, and it works!
VZ: You can find the most ridiculous associations, clubs, and organizations for any taste here, Bill. Why not the Red Lawn Chairs one?
If there is a red lawn chair society (which I don't believe for a moment) then I want to join. I would sit in them wearing my red shoes!
Ingrid
VZ: I'll let the word out, Ingrid, regarding your burning desire. On other hand, I think you'll be better off establishing The Red Shoes Foundation and becoming its president for life.
Presided over...of course...by the really stern-looking "pale face" house.
Don't think you would fit in, VZ...I fear the Society is not for people of wicked humor.
VZ: Oh, I'm just an innocent bystander, Ray, looking to the world from inside out, observing and remembering. I'm a Society myself.
Viktor, the moment I saw those chairs I thought of Ingrid ...wonder why..and yes this is the link...
have fun.... http://www.redchairproject.com/redchair/artsFest-faqs.aspx I love the picture with all the shadows and nice colors.
VZ: Thank you, dear. Yep, Ingrid already wants to join. She thinks she'll blend well. Ha-ha. Good luck to her.
A well composed pic, taken perhaps on a late summer- or autumn-day, the shadow of branches on the house, the brown leaves-ground and the chairs without any person give a feeling of farewell/being past or being frustrated and loneliness, but the red colour of the chairs in the sun signalizes energy and life and community, and I would propose that some powerful persons in our world should sit down and take a new chance to communicate with each other and they don't resign in order to move anything (for example China and Tibet...)! We need many red chairs for talking!
VZ: Thank you, dear. I'm afraid it will take more then a few red chairs to force China to talk to Tibet. Maybe a Red Chairman?
Nicely surreal! Where is Hitchcock's cameo appearance?
VZ: He'll appear as a silhouette behind the curtain in the second floor window on 41st minute after you start looking at the photograph.
love this VZ the house reminds me of Amitville films of a while ago, with the shadows it looks quite creepy
VZ: Ha-ha. You're right Tim. And if you stare at this Amityville's Dollhouse long enough, you might hear Lalo Schifrin's haunting music score.
I like the lines of the tree shadows across the house.
VZ: I do too, Jewlya, but what would those lines be without the chairs? They'll be just what they are, lines.
very nice colours. Excellent perspective. Good shot.
VZ: Thank you, Ale.
