The International Women's Day is here. It's an official holiday in many countries around the globe. Men honor their mothers, wives, girlfriends and female colleagues with flowers and small gifts. My best wishes to all the women. The world will be such a boring place without you, my dears.

It's nice to know we are appreciated Viktor. I have you down for a real ladies' man! This is probably the nearest to a bunch of flowers that I'll get. Thankyou.
Ingrid
VZ: you're welcome, Ingrid.
A real ladies' man! I think I'll put it on my business card.
would life not be less complicated without them?.........
Beautiful image to go with your tribute. mal
VZ: hey, it sure will be. And the simplicity of such a life will bore us all to death.
Thank you, Viktor.. from me and my 6 sisters! These flowers are lovely; I love the rich colors and tiny details in this photo.
VZ: My most welcome to you and your six sisters, marybeth. I just can't imagine growing up with 6 sisters in the house. What an experience!
Flattery will get you everywhere, dear Viktor.
VZ: I wish it's true.
I hope it's true. I pray it's true.
Excellent, is the blur on or off camera?
VZ: The blur is on camera with some enhancement in PP, Nig. I need to check the EXIF, but I believe the aperture was 2.8
Beautiful. I have to try the flattery that Ginnie recommended.
VZ: Careful with the flattery, Kunle, It might get you, but not exactly where you wanted to be. ha-ha.
What a nightmare...a world without women!
...ye Gods! I would have to learn to clean the toilet bowl! And iron shirts! ...and, what about Ray Jnr!!!
VZ: Wake up Ray. It was just a bad dream. Your toilet bowl has been cleaned and the shirt has been ironed while you were sleeping.
Many thanks for your charming words! Looking at these wonderful gold-yellow flowers I'm in high spirits! I think these flowers mayattract many bees, but be cautious, sometimes they are stinging!
VZ: I'm not allergic to the bee stings, Philine. Actually, I quite like the experience. It makes the whole thing spicier.
I think Mal is being a bit brave today!!!
VZ: Is this the bravest he can do? oh my.
On a dreary day this was the most wonderful prelude to the coming spring.
VZ: On the dreary day like this, your words are like a ray of sun, Ms. Grace.
V, Why is it always about lost and melancholy? I do like like the image though. I also agree about your statement about women.
VZ: I'll explain to you about the melancoly later. It's all about a women's state of mind.
This photograph and your wishes make me smile. Wow these are so vivid that I would love to lay in a field of these or at least pick a few and make a crown of them for my hair.
VZ: When you finish, give me a buzz. I'd like to take a picture of Kathryn, laying in the field of gold with a golden crown on her head.
It was like a burst of sunshine as this downloaded. Vibrant and beautiful Viktor thank-you!
VZ: You're more then welcome, Jose. That was a part of me traveled to your room through the wires, Ms. Pixie.
Vibrant Viktor (not sure about beautiful
Thank you kindly Viktor.
VZ: You're most welcome, scarlet.
Gorgeous Macro, beautiful colours. Like Ingrid this is the closest I would get to receiving flowers, so thank you for the tribute.
VZ:
In our newspaper today there is a big report about the International Women's Day on 8th May, especially celebrated by Russian women from all over the world- at home and in exile: "spoiling like in a fairy-tale", "a day with most romantical flair", "I am feeling like a princes" (the men are presenting their wifes and...with flowers, breakfast in bed, jewels, parfume, evening meal in a restaurant, Russian disco's, parties, concerts... )- it must be a really wonderful day and you must have been in full action too! I have to confess that we German women hardly know this (originally political) feast-day! (we are celebrating Motherday, Valentine's Day!)
VZ: Yes Philine. The 8th of March is a big holiday in Russia. The report in the newspaper is absolutely true, all women feel like princesses that day. Men do all and beyond to please them. Unfortunately all things come to an end sooner or later. There is the 9th of March in the calender and with it comes the end for the royal treatment.
although you post this image as a tribute to women...I find all of your images a tribute to the world, capturing beauty everyday in everything
..and I'm appreciative of that
VZ: I'm glad you see my photography as the "beauty of everyday in everything", because it is, as I don't travel to exotic places to take pictures, the subjects of my photography are all around me, Julie.
I like the softness and the clarity/sharpness in this one - I also like the blue parts in the background, suites the flowers and the green colours very well
VZ: This was for women, Aksel, but what the heck, I'm glad you like it too.
How's your New Year resolution to read one poem a day going?
I just could kiss you Viktor, but I might get into a fight with your wife....THANKS for these delicate flowers, I never knew 'we' had a day, I think it is every day 'women's day'
VZ: Yeah, don't read Mal's comment, Astrid, just read my response to him.
You're very welcome, dear. I'll get a rain check for your kiss. ha-ha-ha.
It's beautiful, and thank you for reminding me that summer's on the way.
Women's Day? That'd be nice, we get Mother's Day, which leaves so many out of the celebrations.
Hmmmm, dont know which i'd prefer, lying in this field of gold or a bouquet of these. Feels good being appreciated, mucho gracias.
VZ: Why don't you have both. Have a dream in the field of gold and walk away with a bouquet in your hand. Good to have you on Nostalgia, Ms. Amethyst.
You know Viktor...as a woman I don't really know if I like this thing of "an International Women's Day"... it feels as strange as having a staue of Galileo Galilei in the Vatican (as they are planning to do) I wonder if I am making any sense...
Maybe I woud like it better to celebrate an "International Humanity's Day"...and being so, I could also offer you flowers...to you and to all of those(man or women) who really make the world less boring... (I'm going to put my yellow flowers on the water now...thanks Viktor!)
VZ: Hey, you always have an option to ignore the holiday. Decline the flowers, send back the gifts... I can assure you, it wasn't men's idea. Women fought hard for this holiday for purely political reasons at first.
With Galileo's statue, you know, I don't mind. Good for Vatican to admit their mistake (some folks never do, just look at the current White House resident). Why don't you start the movement for the "Internations Humanity Day"? I'll be the first to sign the petition. Just check with the United Nations, maybe there is one already.
"You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we walk in the fields of gold ..." I read you and in a flash, the words of Eva Cassidy song came back ... I'm too far to walk with you in that field (and a bit allergic too
VZ: I wonder why Eva Cassidy's version came to your mind and not Sting's original. Though, I would agree, Eva's version sends goose bumps through your spine, when you think of her bright, but oh-so short and tragic life.
yes, still sick. i went to the doctor today, he gave me some medication and cough syrup.
beautiful flowers, vz. they are lush and rich. |
