Cute six-legger...
vz-nostalgia: Not many folks would agree with you on "cuteness", Ray. The word I hear the most, when people see a cicada is "ugly". smile
Stunning.
vz-nostalgia: I bet no cicada ever ventured that far North to cross teh Canadian border. smile

smileHe can hide no longer or he needs a bigger mask! Look at those eyes, they are like black teardrops! He is fabulous or should I say she......smile
vz-nostalgia: Those eyes will follow you whenever you go, Ms. Linda, crying black teardrops. Imagine this: 17 years he waited underground as a nymph in order to spend just one summer to make love to lady-cicadas. I bet you'd cry black tears too, if this happen to you? smile

Adam asked of Eve
where is my leaf?
The command did we not abide
nowhere to go nowhere to hide.
vz-nostalgia: You're killing me, Louis. You're getting better with every Nostalgia post. smile

Takes me back to childhood when these would come in noisy droves and leave their crisp brown shells on the tree trunks. Made perfect natural toys for us.
vz-nostalgia: Every morning on my way to the office through the Ansley Park I float on the waves of their noise, Ms. Alerie. It comes, seems, from far away, getting louder and louder, until it covers me fully and then it... dies, only to start all over again.
My word this is close up, very well done.
vz-nostalgia: Close, but not personal, Brian. smile

wrapped up in his very own enigma
he hides the precious heart
of his soul
vz-nostalgia: :
...behind the mask
behind the hardness of his shell
is... another mask, another shell
why? well... just in case...
"I've got my eyes on you, matey!"
vz-nostalgia: "So don't stray too far from home"? smile
An amazing close up VZ..Well captured.
vz-nostalgia: My pleasure, Ron.

I'm feeling the strain of being cross eyed just looking at this bug!
Super macro, very decent dof too.
vz-nostalgia: smile What is a decent DOF, Curly? It is either present or not. smile
This is a wonderful image. I just love the eyes.
vz-nostalgia: Love the eyes? smile Would you like to have a pair just like these, Ms. Frances? smile

It obviously i s present, and to a greater degree than might be expected at this magnification, that is what makes it so impressive!s
Here in Hanoi, we call their noise 'the sound of summer' ... When you hear it, you know you're about to get sweaty. I think we have some special mutants down here, as a single one can make so much noise that conversation near it is practically impossible. I will never know how a small fella like that can make such a ruckus ...
vz-nostalgia: I hope you know what that noise means, Thomas. That's a mating call. They all are trying to outnoise each other to attract a partner. Can you imagine the roar around the planet Earth, if this was also true for human beings? smile
