No spike should be left wanting vz, and yet this one is quite obviously expectant and, dare I say, needy.

spark: No spike should be left wanting...
vz: smile The spike is welcome to want as much as she wants, spark, it doesn't mean that she'll get it. smile Mick Jagger hit the bull's eye, you can't always get what you want. smile

Sad to see their passion is being tempered due to lip-balm under-use yesterday...

Well I remember the painful experience of trying to physically demonstrate passion when I and The Other both had a nasty dose of sunburn...

VZ: There is always another pair of lips to kiss, Ray, and it's hard to say which one is better. smile

This could be an unpleasant conversation Vik
vz-nostalgia: smile well, there is nothing pleasant in getting a bunch of spikes into one's face instead of a tender kiss, that's for sure. smile

He: "You really wanna miss?"
She: "Well, place it on my hips."
He: "This will give you creeps."
She: "That I won't dismiss."
vz-nostalgia: smile Since when a soft kiss onto her hips gives a lady creeps, Ms. Iris? smile

I presume it is the female that has the spikes, as with the human species. The graceful flowing lines are beautiful.

Anniedog: I presume it is the female that has the spikes, as with the human species.
VZ: I see, it didn't take you long to get it right, Ms. Ingrid. smile
The fragrant honeysuckle spirals clockwise to the sun,
And many other creepers do the same.
But some climb anti-clockwise, the bindweed does, for one,
Or Convolvulus, to give her proper name.

Rooted on either side a door, one of each species grew,
And raced towards the window-ledge above.
Each corkscrewed to the lintel in the only way it knew,
Where they stopped, touched tendrils, smiled, and fell in love.

Said the right-handed honeysuckle to the left-handed bindweed,
"Oh, let us get married, if our parents don't mind, we'd
Be loving and inseparable, inextricably entwined, we'd
Live happily ever after" said the honeysuckle to the bindweed.

To the honeysuckle's parents it came as a shock.
"The bindweeds," they cried, "are inferior stock!
They're uncultivated, of breeding bereft,
We twine to the right and they twine to the left."

Said the anti-clockwise bindweed to the clockwise honeysuckle,
"We'd better start saving, many a mickle macks a muckle,
Then run away for a honeymoon and hope that our luck'll
Take a turn for the better" said the bindweed to the honeysuckle.

A bee who was passing remarked to them then,
"I've said it before and I'll say it again,
Consider your offshoots, if offshoots there be,
They'll never receive any blessing from me".

"Poor little sucker, how will it learn,
When it is climbing, which way to turn?
Right, left, what a disgrace,
Or it may go straight up and fall flat on its face!"

Said the right-hand-thread honeysuckle to the left-hand-thread bindweed,
"It seems they're against us, all fate has combined.
Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Colombine,
Thou art lost and gone forever, we shall never intertwine".

Together, they found them, the very next day,
They had pulled up their roots and just shrivelled away.
Deprived of that freedom for which we must fight,
To veer to the left or to veer to the right!

You may not be familiar with Flanders and Swann
vz-nostalgia: Yep. You assumed it right, Bill. I admit my ignorace, I had no idea who Flanders and Swann are, until I looked them up. smile Still, as good as these guys are, I'd rather read your own poem. smile

It tickles
She sneezes
Sticky everywhere.
vz-nostalgia: Must be talking from your own experience, Louis. smile
I like annies comment, and I like the flower arranging.
vz-nostalgia: I wish I could take credit for the arrangement, Nig. That's how I found them. smile
A spiky kiss...mmmmuah smile
vz-nostalgia: I see you know exactly what I am talking about, Ms. Delia. Must be had one. smile

Haha! I thought Love would ignore and overcome all obstacles? Every person owns his/her "Ecken und Kanten"/edges and corners as we say. I like very much the gentle and "graceful" (Ingrid is right!) inclinations to each other - and your lighting!
vz-nostalgia: smile
Philine: Haha! I thought Love would ignore and overcome all obstacles?
VZ: Oh, c'mon, Ms. Philine. You know it's not true. There are plenty of examples in world literature to that, from Romeo and Juliette to Anna Karenina. smile
Ingrid is neither right nor wrong. She just stated teh obvious. smile

maybe it's not a failed romance, just a forbidden kiss...

k.a.
vz-nostalgia: well maybe, Ms. KA. smile Her spikes are like a chastity belt, protects a forbidden territory. smile
Hmm, this looks just like I feel, sometimes....just plain spikey! (:o)
vz-nostalgia: smile There must be a good reason for you to be spikey (sometimes), Ms. Roz. smile

I see that the general assumption is that Spikey is a she, but maybe is a he, and he is spiked up because She, as women do, wants to "improve" him.
vz-nostalgia: smile Trying to improve someone often ends with disastrous results, Ms. Dori.
Have you ever seen a classic kissing scene in a classic Hollywood movie? A woman is always in teh arms of a man, bent backwards. smile

Dori: No doubt about that.

VZ: Have you ever seen a classic kissing scene in a classic Hollywood movie? A woman is always in teh arms of a man, bent backwards.
Dori: Yeah, I have. But my classic.romance.meter must've run out of batteries.
Or, I am just trying to see [something else] than I originally saw, just because I know that reality is perception based. I'm just playing. smile
vz-nostalgia: Keep playing, Ms. Dori, I like that. Because, I do teh same. smile
