A portal...an opening...an orifice...a doorway...a mouth...a whirlpool...

Let's go see...
vz-nostalgia: You stopped giving names to the hole just in time, Ray. smile

Lunch for the predator
leads to a longer life
built on a short one
for the prey.

Life is an exchange at a hole. Positioning being all important.
vz-nostalgia: There must be a drop of Rudyard Kipling in you, Louis. smile because you put the law of the jungle in a poetic form as well. smile

vz-nostalgia: Is that a good or bad feeling, Chris? smile

If I were to post these two part I would have been "Yang", part II will be "Yin". smile

And if you wonder why then stop by my desk and I'll give you a Chinese lesson about yin and yang that not just about negative and positive.... smile
vz-nostalgia: Let's discuss the Yin and Yang thing over lunch in the Royal China restaurant next week, Ti. smile
In the beginning there was all void and from it... life began.
vz-nostalgia: Can you prove it, Ms. Delia? smile

" A ..hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down...", maybe, life is as a hole, but I'm sure full of adventures, good ones and bad ones, if we are as curious and sensitive as Alice (our reading in our English lesson!), yes, life is wonderland here and there, but often we are walking along dull and boring streets, and sometimes through hell-like regions, too! A delicate, refined picture whether filled with symbolism or without any symbolism!
vz-nostalgia: Strangely enough, Lewis Carroll has come to my mind, while I was working on the picture, Ms. Philine. After you mentioned Alice, it seems pretty obvious. smile
vz-nostalgia: Two questions, Ms. Seraphine:
1. Why "he"?
2. Why "nose"?
Okay, one more:
3. What do you have against explorers? smile
I am lost in my thoughts, I daydream in front of your photo.
Belle image. A+ VAL
vz-nostalgia: Write them down, Ms. Valerie. We'll be interested to read your daydream thoughts. smile
This is beautiful. I like the contrast and composition.
vz-nostalgia: I see you are focused on technicalities, Ms. Anina. Contrast... Composition... smile Next time let's try to look beyond. smile
1) 'he' because it's a spiderweb and most spiders are female.
2)'nose' because 'curiosity killed a cat.'
3) i love explorers. i love exploring. but but but... i know better than to stick my nose into a telephone pole hole rife with old staples and spiders.
vz-nostalgia: :
1) Did you know, Ms. Sera, that most female spiders eat their husbands/lovers after sex? If not, check out my reply to Bill Phillips' comment to this picture:

So, you might be right in your demographic statement that most spiders in teh spider world are females. smile
Hello , a nice composition and B/W , as a tornado , well done , Phil.
vz-nostalgia: A micro-tornado on the telephone pole. smile I like that, Phil. smile
Absolute darkness. I like so much. Super wild black and white. Congratulations.
vz-nostalgia: You must be a big fan of goth subculture, AdD. smile

I'll only enter if you lead the way, I'm afraid of dark holes wink Beautiful texture in this intriguing photo!
vz-nostalgia: All you need is to hold my hand and trust me, Ms. Monique. I'll do you no harm. smile
yes, i knew female spiders often eat the males after mating.
this can often be avoided by the availability of chocolate.
vz-nostalgia: I think you are on teh verge of a breakthrough in entomology, Ms. Sera. smile
This is a remarkable photograph. The detail is wonderful and the black and white contrasts really draw one into every little thing. The "black hole" is a great concept...the imagination takes this even further. Bravo.
vz-nostalgia: smile I would love to hear how far your imagination took you here, Ms. Chameleon. smile
I wouldn't like to be the hole, its dark and full of creepy crawlies wriggling around, so I would rather be the peg, but now I have a dilemma, the peg has to go in the hole that is full of creepy crawlies...!
vz-nostalgia: On other hand, Ms. Linda, per Stephen Hawking theory, black holes hold inside an enormous power. If you accept the idea that you are the one, you can rule the universe that spins around you. smile

Well, mr VZ..there are holes and holes...like this one which is the result of Agatha's mischivious behaviour..

I wouldn't enter...even if you invited me, would you? smile
vz-nostalgia: smile I would not invite you to that hole, Ms. KA. It looks more like a gate to hell. smile
