Could be either...if only it knew it is one of billions of nearly identical reproductive organs on conifers all over the world.

And...it gets great views, as well.
vz-nostalgia: Soon this juniper berry will know, when it joins the others in the making of a bottle of gin. smile

It might just be enjoying it's solitude. I find myself cherishing time spent by myself these days. Lovely use of DOF VZ.
vz-nostalgia: Yep. Some do enjoy solitude, while others hate it. The world is such a versatile place. Thank god for that. smile

This is very lovely even if there is a feeling of despair and loneliness to it smile.
vz-nostalgia: :
...branches huddle in despair
trying to protect
a lonely berry... smile

Lonely berry,
buries his loneliness

Nice geometry V. Your architectural training is showing through again in this one; even though the berry seems to be balancing your square format and the fact that you placed it in the center vertically gives the image great stability.

I like that the berry is on the right side of the frame and it appears to be facing the sunlight and the branches seem to be reaching out.

To me this is an image of faith. Faith that the natural cycle of life will eventually lead to new Spring if we just keep facing the light.
vz-nostalgia: That is what we architects do, Lee, look for this fragile stability in a composition. smile We're lucky, when we find it.
I haven't had faith in mind, but I do like the direction you go here. smile

Once again, your stunning art proves itself a combination of word and view; Consider the word absent of the view, or consider the view absent the word. What if you change the view, or the word? What if the word was "Incubation"?
vz-nostalgia: I "incubate" my words, while working on the picture, Doug. smile

Maybe it should be called cradel of solitude or caught in loneliness. Thanks Viktor!
vz-nostalgia: Or a "cradle of solitude caught in loneliness" smile You're always welcome, Kelly.
A very exquisite shot Viktor
vz-nostalgia: A portrait of the essence of gin making,Chris: a juniper berry. A secret alchemy of gin, what can I say. smile
Interesting either way Viktor.
vz-nostalgia: I guess I found an equivalent to the palindrome in photography, Chad. smile

I LOVE the play on words, Viktor...so up my alley! smile But besides that, the image is very soulful to me, especially in B&W.
vz-nostalgia: oh, I'm a player, Ms. Ginnie. smile I think, finally, I started getting a taste of the English language. smile

If the little juniper berry is able to provoke such deep thoughts, imagine what a couple of gins would do...grin
It's really something how you "stimulate" people's imagination...
vz-nostalgia: Can you imagine what a couple of good brains would do after a couple gins, Ms. Lina? Would you like to join me for a drink? smile
