I have not seen a more persistent creature than this female garden spider. She just would not give up. She decided to build her fancy home right through the path to the compost pile in our garden. Every other day Natalya or I had to break through the web. Sure enough, the very next morning a brand new custom designed net was tightly vibrating on the sunrise breeze exactly at the same place. I think she had an unconscious desire to catch me in her trap one day. For you, amateur entomologists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_garden_spider Please pay attention to the fact that a female spider devours a male after mating. Poor guy. What a price to pay for a minute of pleasure! Or is it a fault of an uncontrollable female after-sex appetite?

What a nice day it was. I was sitting on a curb near a flower bed digesting a Chick-fil-A sandwich when I noticed my colleague from the office approaching at a fast pace. I put a huge smile on my face and made a friendly hand gesture. But… the guy looked through me and kept going. With a stupid smile frozen from ear to ear, I watched his long dreadlocks smack his back in the rhythm of the day. I checked around with my peripheral vision if anybody noticed this smile of an idiot and bowed my head to my knees in shame and confusion. When I raised my eyes, something happened in the sky. I whispered a short prayer of thanks and pushed the shutter button. Was it a payoff for my humiliation or did I steal a moment from the Supreme himself?
